Activity Five- Completing a persuasive speech/argument

Within this fifth activity/lesson the teacher shall afford students the opportunity to perform their persuasive argument/speech. Students who wish to participate must be encouraged; those who do not wish to participate can develop their own written/speech argument. This activity may take some time up within class time. Beyond the students actually just ‘performing’ the teacher should be using the time to get students to help critic each other for the skills and tactics they have been taught. For ease of understanding this activity/lesson is placed in an order of sequence. This may be changed at the need/desire of the teacher.

Activity Five: A- Overcoming presentation of a speech/argument

This activity is perhaps the most simple one for you, yet the most lengthy. The teacher shall need to ensure that they set appropriate time and time constraints to you when they are asking you to present your speech/argument. The teacher must consider whether you as an individual feel comfortable presenting your speech to the whole class, a small group, just the teacher etc. this will have a direct effect on how some of you perform and what time shall need to be allocated by the teacher.  The teacher will consider the following things many things that are laid out within the Rubric.

Have fun with your assessment. Don’t be afraid to be flamboyant and intriguing.

You have a voice, a powerful voice. Use it.

Why should one person or a group of people be listened too?

Because it’s the only thing that has ever changed the world.

Following the assessment encouragement and support from you and your peers is essential. The teacher, as a member of your classroom, along with you will encourage your peers. You should too.

Critique yourself and each other in a friendly manner.

Consider how you would like to be told you need to improve.
